"Now if you do not commit adultery, but you do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty." James 2:8-12
James' obvious point is not to transgress His law of liberty, His 10 Commandments, but to SPEAK and DO them, as those who also keep His law of liberty and are judged by the law of liberty. Also see James 1:25, His law of liberty is compared to a mirror, it shows us our sin. See also Rom 3:20.

"If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you do well; but if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors. For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all. For He who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.”

@Myhopeisinhim
For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Romans 13:9
Paul says His commandments sum as LOVE.
You preach that His commandments sum up as DEATH.
There is no hope listening to the adversary, the liar, while claiming Jesus. Repent!

John does not have a different definition of what Jesus' commandments are than Paul. Is there more than one Spirit? Paul and John both tell us that keeping His commandments sum up LOVE.
"For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome." 1 John 5:3

Best of luck keeping ALL of the laws because if you break one you have broken all of them...I will stick with Jesus Christ and His finished work of the cross! Agape! JP

lack love, exactly like Simon. I've met so many people who claim to love God and keep his commandments, but showing kindness, and gentleness, and love seem to be absent from them.
They think just because they don't steal, murder, commit adultery that they are showing love, yet out of the other side of their mouth they spread slander, lies, evil reports, hateful words. Personally, that shows me that they really don't know the meaning of love at all. |
